We call Unit D-614 at Kihei Akahi "Makai Vista" because of its spectacular 180-degree panoramic views. Makai Vista is a top-floor, 1-bedroom, 1-bath unit with wonderful views of the water, sunsets and nearby islands. Warm tones are reflected in the furnishings and art work. You'll love curling up on the comfortable chaise lounge.

The owners have tried to provide everything you'll need during your time in Hawaii. The condo has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave and an entertainment center with a large flat-panel high-definition cable TV, DVD, and stereo with CD. For those unusually hot days when Maui's trade winds aren't enough to keep you comfortable, the living area has an air conditioner.

Our little video gives you a little taste of this slice of heaven.

Your computer won't have to share the dining table. There's a desk with free high-speed Internet access, a telephone with answering machine, and a mirror so you can see the view while you're working.

Guests rave about our high-quality, firm queen bed, and the living area has a queen sofabed. The unit has its own washer/dryer, and we provide beach towels, beach chairs, coolers and a beach umbrella.

The popular Kihei Akahi complex is located directly across from Kamaole II Beach Park, one of Kihei's best swimming beaches. It is about a 6-minute walk from Makai Vista to the beach.

Photos just can't capture the wonderful view from the lanai (balcony). Kihei Akahi offers very nice grounds with tropical landscaping, two pools, gas barbecues and tennis court. The four buildings in the complex are all different and set well apart from each other within Kihei Akahi's lush grounds, so the complex feels uncrowded and relaxed. The D building is set back several hundred feet from South Kihei Road so you don't see the road and rarely hear any traffic noise. The complex is walking distance to shops and restaurants. Wailea, Maui's luxury golf and resort area, is about a mile away.

Our stay was AMAZING!!!! The place is brand new and beautiful! Super clean too! Even the elevators were fast... Our view from the room was so impressive that my parents, who stay at a condo on the beach each year, are looking at this place for next year. The view from the balcony is awesome! We were very happy with this property with one exception. When we first walked in, it appeared to be very clean. However, upon a closer look, we found dust everywhere - under the beds, behind the furniture, along all the picture frames and lamps. We think that the whole unit needs a good and thorough cleaning. We also found that the unit was beginning to look "tired", i.e. the patio doors were very dirty, the kitchen cupboards were quite dirty inside, including the floor in the cupboard where the brooms and garbage can was kept.

But we loved the layout, the wonderful balcony and beautiful view. The only real issue was the cleanliness. I would certainly stay in it again.
Paradise Dreams This was our third stay at the Kihei Akahi and we would stay again. Now that we are repeat guests we receive a lovely gift basket on arrival and that is a very thoughtful thing to do as we haven.t seen that in other places.

The views were as grand as we remember. We did have a slow internet connection this time but were able to deal with it for my husband's business contacts. We have also thought the three of us should look into a two bedroom. All that aside we always think of returning to D614 because it feels like our home in Maui.

Located on the top floor of the highest complex on the grounds, it had an unobstructed view of the ocean, Molokini, and sunsets. The condo unit and complex was one of the best in location. The complex was located in close walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a beach practically at your door step. This was a bonus since parking at many beach areas was difficult to find. One could just park at the condo and walk to the beach, complete with lifeguard, washrooms, and outdoor shower. The condo unit was clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable -- no restless nights!. The automatic ice maker on the fridge was great and the unit came equipped with beach chairs, umbrella, mats - a bonus. Also, it was very pleasant to have a quiet complex -- no parties, it was very much a quiet adult getaway. A female travelling alone, I felt very safe in the complex and Kihei area and had no problems walking alone at dusk. The grounds are patrolled regularly with security staff on golf carts and they are very attentive to their duties.

The minor negatives of the unit would be that the ledge above the bedroom was very dirty/dusty from the screen window 'vents' and should be cleaned more regularly, the bathroom caulking is showing its age, and the screen door on the balcony would not close or lock and the screen was ripped by the handle allowing potential bugs into the unit. Second, arriving at night, it was very frustrating trying to find the complex as reading the road signs at night was difficult. A map would have been very beneficial with landmarks identified as well as a map of the complex in relation to others on the grounds. Security had to help me find the complex. Overall, these were minor issues and did not impact my overall stay which was good.

I would definitely stay at this condo unit again.

We had a very positive experience. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, appreciated the condiments, paper products etc. being available. Lots of linen (beach towels much appreciated). Nice to have beach chairs, boogie boards cooler etc. Room had not been cleaned when we arrived at 11:30 at night. We made our own bed from linen in closet and called property manager in the morning. She had the room cleaned very quickly the next morning. Other than that small glitch, we were very happy with the accommodation and would stay there again and tell our friends about the lovely condo.

This is the best decorated and is only surpassed by the fantastic view. We felt like VIP's. The attention to detail; from the welcome basket to the elevated deck chairs, made our "home away from home" a very comfortable experience. The complex 'Kihei Akahi' is in excellent shape and groomed daily.

Sun and surf everyday. Woke up with all the birds. Swam with sea turtles. Saw Billy and the Bad Dogs Band. Ate at Eskimo Candy Fish Market and Cafe. They had the best seafood chowder. Got good Texas bar-b-que at Fat Daddy's Smokehouse. Partied at the Dog and Duck Bar. Drove to Lahaina and ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise. I told them it wasn't cause the bun just disentegrated and I had to eat my burger with a fork. The condo had everything a person could ask for. Fantastic view and accomodations. Muhalo.

We had an amazing stay Kihei Akahi D-614. The furniture was lovely as well as the decor. Loved the true polynesian feel. The grounds are immaculately maintained - plumerias everywhere! The pool was lovely and also very clean. The other residents and guests were all very friendly. I did not see anyone "being upset" (as I read in another review of the complex) by kids playing in the pool and well, being kids. The beach was two minutes away - so easy to catch the sunset. The location is perfect - walk most anywhere in Kihei, or jump in the car for a couple minutes and you are in Wailea. Zip up to Foodland for the most delicious poke. Ate it every day. Yum! We will be recommending this property to our sister-in law for her honeymoon stay as well. We will be back. It really was great. Also no bugs, perfect breeze, nice appliances... we could go on and on. Thank you so much for all the thoughtful touches. Beach towels, chairs. The only bad part was having to leave!

Our first dealing with everyone at Hawaii Holiday Vacation Rentals, especially Tara, regarding our stay at Kihei Akahi D-614 was perfect. We loved the unit. It had everything we needed for a family of 4: fully stocked kitchen supplies, linens, and beach gears (umbrellas, beach chairs and mats, cooler, sand toys for kids). The panoramic view was gorgeous for our morning breakfast on the balcony and the occasional sunsets (when we're back in the condo on time). Our 9 and 6 year olds enjoyed the pool and the Kam II and III beaches that are just walking distance away. We will be back!

We have stayed in the Akahi for over 25 years and have never had as many bugs.

Our condo D-614 had everything, that a beachcomber needs and then some. My only complaint would be, having to drag 5 bags of groceries up an elevator from the ground floor. Too bad there was not a lift specifically for for this purpose. Also, the property did not have a recycle bin (we recycle everything). Having the beach right across the street was perfect and restaurants were in walking distance, fabulous! Will re-visit again.

Really enjoyed our stay in D614. The kitchen was very well stocked with all needed items - great to have an ice maker! The furnishings were tasteful and the bed very comfortable. The view from the lanai was gorgeous - watched the sunset from this location many times. Having high speed internet was very much appreciated, since I had to log in to work several times! Plenty of bath and beach towels and washer & dryer were big pluses.
Two drawbacks: bedroom adjascent to the outside hall and parking lot caused interrupted sleep due to guests who did not observe "Quiet Time" and guests in adjascent units who smoked on their lanais and in the hallway (both not allowed and signs posted) causing unwanted smoke to enter our space. Otherwise, the location was great and we had a wonderful time!

When first entering the room at night, we were disappointed it was further from the ocean than I had envisioned. Upon morning, seeing the view, that opionion changed. Besides the panorama, we were away from the traffic on Kihei Rd. The beach is a very short walk and the pool was very convenient. The condo was very well-stocked with conveninences, including the beach chairs and mats. There were only two beach towels so that would be something to improve on, and no kleenex, which would have been nice. But everything else was clean, comfortable and thoughtful.

The condo was super clean! Location was great too. Only 15 mins from airport and the beach was 2 mins. Awesome! Only bad part was the A/C was in the living room and it was difficult to cool the bedroom which is at the opposite end.
There were lots of fans to help. Overall, the condo was absolutely amazing! The kitchen has everything you would possible need. We cooked the entire week and lacked nothing. Thanks so much!!

The best!

We thoroughly enjoyed the property. The quality of the furniture was good, but we do think the unit could do with some general maitenace.

Paradise Dreams This was our third stay at the Kihei Akahi and we would stay again. Now that we are repeat guests we receive a lovely gift basket on arrival and that is a very thoughtful thing to do as we haven.t seen that in other places.

The condo unit and complex was one of the best in location

We love this condo! It is perfectly appointed, very clean and the office staff at HHV are extremely helpful. This is our 2nd yr and we are booked for 2012 and will book for 2013

This condo has it all - view, comfort and all the amenities including free internet connections. We have been renting condos in Maui for ten years and this one is the best . The furnishings were lovely, plenty of towels and dishes.
