Beachfront -- right on Kamaole II Beach! For those who know famous Hale Pau Hana, we don't have to explain why it has probably the best location of any South Maui condo. For those who don't know, very few accommodations in South Kihei are beachfront. Hale Pau Hana has incredible views, sunsets, and popular Kamaole II Beach all right in front of the complex and a wide selection of shops and restaurants conveniently located across the street.

Hale Pau Hana 606 is a 1-bedroom, 2-bath condominium on the 6th floor. From its lanai (balcony) you have a front-row seat for gazing out at the pool, the white sandy beach of Kamaole II, the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean, and the islands of Kahoolawe, Molokini, and Lanai.

The condo is light, bright and nicely furnished, with tiled floors. It's stocked with lots of vacation reading and fun games for the family. It is also the largest 1-bedroom condo we offer, with two full baths. The guest bath and the master bath were both remodeled beautifully in 2010. The master bedroom has a king bed, its own TV, en suite bath with walk-in shower, and air-conditioning. The living area has a queen sofabed to sleep 2 more. Of course, the owners provide their guests with FREE high-speed Internet.

Kamaole II is a favorite Maui swimming beach. That wonderful white sand slipping through your toes is directly in front of the building, yet the oceanfront pool and grassy grounds of the complex are set a few feet above the beach allowing a private space for Hale Pau Hana guests only.

This wonderful condo and complex is ideal for couples and families. It's close to both the shops, restaurants and conveniences of South Kihei and the upscale shopping, restaurants and fancy resorts in Wailea. The pool, lawn chairs on the grass, white sandy beach, and forever views are just outside your lanai.

    We had a wonderful holiday at Hale Pau Hana, Unit 606. The location right on the beach, the pool and grounds were beyond our expectations. We did, however, feel the unit had not really moved from the 1970's and that the owners should pay more attention to the general cleanliness overall. For example, the upholstery needs to be cleaned and inside the cupboards (particularly under the sink) need attention. We do not feel this is a housekeeping/cleaning crew problem but rather that the owner needs to be more hands on in reviewing what the unit needs in the way of regular maintenance. The unit was very well equipped for a stay in the sun.

    In closing, we are not criticising the lack of updates from original construction, only general cleanliness. The unit was really charming and we would love to return.

    We hope you will accept this as constructive comments for the future. We also realize it is difficult to maintain a standard because not all occupants treat the unit kindly.

    We were thrilled with Maui, the weather, the local activities, and the people of Maui. The condo has an excellent location. The interior of this unit is a little dated, with the exception of the two bathrooms which were recently redone, and very nicely. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of an air conditioner in the bedroom. The condo itself was very confortable except for the lack of air conditioning. Although the kitchen was also quite dated, it was still very functional. We would love to return!

    We loved our stay at the "house of finished work" it really is a carefree relaxing experience. The night we got there it was late around 10:30 and we went straight out to the lanai and sat in awe listening to the waves and feeling the warm air. The condo was perfect for us. It was comfortable and had everything we would need for our stay. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the beach in front was fabulous. We just had to walk down the steps in front to the beach and we could snorkel, boogie board, swim or just sunbathe; right there in front of the condo.
    We had such a wonderful time that I almost cried when we had to leave and go back to the snow and cold. We can't say enough about our holiday in Kihei. We will definitely recommend Hawii Holiday Vacation Rentals and Maui, of course.
    We will return hopefully sooner than later. Mahalo!

    The best recommendation for a destination is whether you would stay there again, and we most definitely would stay at HPH 606 again, and highly recommend it to others. We stayed Apr 20-29th and had a great time, with few complaints. As others have commented, the room itself is not the greatest attraction, the Kamahole beaches and Kihei location are. We aren't ones to nitpick over seemingly petty issues, especially in Paradise, but anyone thinking this place represents upscale luxury might be in for a disappointment. That's not what you should expect. Consider that you're basically apartment sitting for a friend here. No room service, no maid everyday. You're on your own for all day to day cleaning, laundry, etc. As an example, we felt the tile floors could've been cleaner- it was the first thing we noticed when we kicked off our shoes. We cleaned them ourselves with the supplies provided and did'nt complain. The clothes iron was also broken- we had to meet local friends that night at Tommy Bahamas in luggage wrinkly clothes, but the next morning a new iron was delivered per our request. (this was our only contact with management.) You should also know that the HPH facility is approaching 50 years old. If you want modern luxury, go to the Four Seasons or Grand Wailia. While 606 has had some nice upgrades, it's still in a 50 year old building, with old wiring, no A/C, no gas, no jacuzzis here. We saw a few complaints about these minor condition issues in the room guestbook, but overwhemlingly the reviews were positive, especially about the grounds, beaches, and Maui itself. HPH 606 is a wonderful and cozy place to hang your hat and rest while you enjoy Paradise. For our first trip to the island, it was in retrospect our best choice, and we'll probably consider it our first choice in the future, as knowing what to expect from an accomodation is a great plus. Many Mahalos to the Ruiz's for allowing us to enjoy their property and their personal slice of Paradise

    We enjoyed our stay, but were shocked to discover no air conditioning! Overall, we were pleased. The unit needs some maintenance, though. The location is excellent..on a nice, uncrowded beach, walking distance to several very good restaurants, comfortable. The owners of the other condos were less than friendly, but we didn't come to socialize.

    At first we were hesitant to rent this condo due to some reviews we read. However, Tara was very forthcoming and assured us that the previous issues (cleanliness and bathroom) with the condo have been rectified by the property owners. True to her word, when we arrived the unit was clean and both bathrooms were newly remodeled.

    The location of this condo is perfect - it is right on the beach and really close to shops, restaurants and grocery stores. You'll have nice views of the sunset and beach. The TV in the bedroom was not working while we were there. It wasn't much of an issue since we really didn't go to Maui to watch TV. The condo is well stocked with stuff that you would be able to use during your stay.

    Overall, a very nice place to stay.

    Hi,
    We rented 2 different units for our week at the Hale Pau Hana (706 thru another agency)...we LOVED the HPH, so we'll probably only stay there from now on when we go to Maui. Would give unit 706 a 5 star for the stay because it was totally renovated and very clean, had light house keeping every day for the same price. 606 could use a little work in both the updating/cleanliness categories or it would have gotten a 5 star also...please check the fridge; it's barely keeping the food cold!

    We would definitely use Aloha Coast Realty again.

    It was a beautiful spot! The view from the condo is amazing and the upkeep of the grounds and pool were incredible! Management of the building was great - plenty of lawn chairs, barbeque and great entertainment on New Years Eve! The condo itself was certainly adequate for our needs - tho I would have enjoyed a bigger kitchen. The furnitures were fine and the tv and internet quite ok for our needs. Everything was clean when we arrived but because we were staying during high season for a two week period, it would have been very nice to have had cleaning service at the end of the first week particularly as the condo has no washer and dryer and sheets, towels etc have to be carried downstairs. (I believe other units have this service?) It was relatively quiet for sleeping although the bedroom windows are on the road side. The pullout bed was comfortable. We would certainly return to this apartment again.

    The property suffers from a lack of tlc from the owners. It is our understanding that the owners have not visited the property in numerous years. It needs a good, thorough cleaning. Items need to be discarded and replaced. We had 6 stemmed glasses. None matched. There are too many "locked out" cabinets and junk in closets. Also, too much decorative junk sitting around. The room key would not open the pool gate. The on-site manager was not surprised. We have the impression that when the pool was redone, the lock was changed. But, for the price we were paying, this property is a very good value. Pictures need to be updated on the website as they do not reflect the interior of the unit correctly. Great library. When redoing the master bath, we would rip out the shower and replace with a 6 foot, double sink vanity. This would provide space for guest's bathroom supplies. The property does not have wireless but wireless is available through other units in the building. No A/C but we did not miss it. Other owners were very friendly and encouraged us to return next year. View and sunsets are unbelievable.

    The Hale Pau Hana property very well maintained, clean, well groomed, great pool, great location on beach and convenient to the shops across the street.
    Condo #606 was spacious, comfortable and beautiful stunning views, lots of windows with 2 sliding doors, balcony, comfortable king bed, two upgraded bathrooms and tiled floors very nice. Cleaning staff could definately do a better job, some towels not clean, odour on towels, coverlet on bed noticeably not washed from previous, kitchen mat and bathroom mats not clean, tile floors still had dust/sand and hairs in corners. In the kitchen can opener did not work, coffee maker too grundgy to use, some utensils very old, glass coffee table could be hazardous, no edge around it. Upon arriving we were given the wrong number access on the door, good thing the cleaning lady was still in the room and she then gave us the correct number. Our 5 nites were a great time and we would come back again! Aloha!

    This property needs AC. it was very hot at night and the only window in the bed room faced a busy, noisy street.
    General maintenance is required in he unit.

    This was our first trip to the Hawaiian Islands and we were very happy. #606 is one of a few condos for private rent at this resort amongst "the pool" which rent through the resort, so be warned that you cannot contact the front desk to assist you with any answers about your condo or expect daily housekeeping services...you will have to make a few calls to a vacation rental company (as we did) to answer your questions. Having said that, when we called the contact we were initially provided with, he was very helpful to us, even though he said he wasn't actually taking care of our unit anymore. The resort and surroundings were great. There were so many restaurants and stores within walking distance across the street, and great views of ocean activity from our room. There were still whales crossing the waters (albeit in the distance, but you could see them breaching), a resident huge turtle, crossing from Kamaole 2-3 in front of us in waist deep water, snorkelling in the reefs on either side of the resort-best time is in the morning when there is little surf action. When there are a few waves happening, it makes for great boogie boarding. The long term and short term folks in the resort were extremely friendly. During the 10 days we were there, we discovered that every Thursday night, there was a "pu-pu" night where everyone brings an appie and their drinks and the residents also scheduled another potluck night on the Monday night after that. Everyone was very social. There is a coffee cart brought out every morning at 10 am and everyone is welcome down at the tables/chairs on the lawns by the pool and ocean to gather. This is great if you want to get some insight about Kehei from those who have been there for months...or sit alone and enjoy your morning coffee/tea. A nice treat. The local tour operators/restaurant staff were excellent. We had no complaints and would visit here again.
